Canon MP640 Ink Absorber Full Reset
Canon MP640 may block print jobs after recording enough cleaning and maintenance cycles. Use the sequence below to enter service mode and reset the stored value.
Before resetting Canon MP640
The lock is based on accumulated maintenance activity. Resetting Canon MP640 changes the counter value but does not remove ink already held in the absorber material.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MP640. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon MP640
- Turn the printer off.

Reset the counter in Canon MP640
Service mode must be entered correctly before Wic Reset Connect can communicate with the maintenance interface. Resolve other printer errors first.

Prepare the printer
Resolve other errors, confirm a steady power light and enter service mode using the sequence above.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon MP640 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MP640 is not detected
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.

What if my reset key was used during a failed attempt?
Correct the cause first, then use the new-key generator or contact support for assistance.
Does the reset clean the ink absorber?
No. It resets the stored counter. Inspect, clean or replace the absorber pads when their physical condition requires maintenance.
Does Canon MP640 require service mode?
Yes. The printer must expose its maintenance interface before the counter can be reset with Wic Reset Connect.
