The problem

The counter behind the Epson XP-400 warning

Waste ink produced by cleaning cycles is collected inside the printer. Epson XP-400 tracks those cycles electronically and can stop printing when the calculated limit is reached.

Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson XP-400. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Reset the counter in Epson XP-400

Correct preparation protects the reset key from being used during a failed communication attempt. Verify each requirement before selecting Reset.

  1. Install the original driver

Install the official Epson driver for XP-400 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

  2. Connect directly by USB

Connect Epson XP-400 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

  3. Start Wic Reset Connect

Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson XP-400.

  4. Enter the key and reset

Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.

Finish correctly: Finish by closing Wic Reset Connect and restarting Epson XP-400. A short power-off interval lets the printer reload the updated counter value.
If Epson XP-400 is not detected
  • Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
  • Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
  • Install the original Epson driver for XP-400; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
  • Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
