Understanding the Epson ME-401 waste ink warning
An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson ME-401 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson ME-401. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson ME-401
Correct preparation protects the reset key from being used during a failed communication attempt. Verify each requirement before selecting Reset.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for ME-401 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson ME-401 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson ME-401.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson ME-401 is not detected
- Install the original Epson driver for ME-401; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.

No. Wic Reset Connect requires a direct USB connection to the Windows computer.
How long does the reset take?
The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
Does Epson ME-401 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
