The problem

What the Epson L1239 service message means

Epson L1239 uses stored counter data to estimate absorber usage. The estimate may reach its limit before the pads appear completely saturated, but physical maintenance should still be considered.

Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson L1239. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Step by step

Reset the counter in Epson L1239

Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

  1. Install the original driver

Install the official Epson driver for L1239 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

  2. Connect directly by USB

Connect Epson L1239 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

  3. Start Wic Reset Connect

Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L1239.

  4. Enter the key and reset

Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.

Finish correctly: Once the reset finishes, power-cycle Epson L1239 and wait until it returns to its ready state before printing.
If Epson L1239 is not detected
  • Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
  • Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
  • Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
  • Install the original Epson driver for L1239; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
