Canon MP287 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon MP287 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
Why Canon MP287 reports an absorber error
Canon MP287 uses a stored counter as a maintenance safeguard. Reaching the threshold can produce an Ink Absorber Full, Service Required or related support-code message.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MP287. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon MP287
- Turn the printer off.

- Press and release Stop/Reset 2krát.
- Wait briefly, then release Power. The power indicator should remain steadily lit.
Reset the counter in Canon MP287
First make sure the power indicator is steady and no cartridge or mechanical error is active. Then prepare the Windows computer and direct USB connection.

Prepare the printer
Resolve other errors, confirm a steady power light and enter service mode using the sequence above.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon MP287 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MP287 is not detected
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- Connect Canon MP287 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.

Can I perform the reset over Wi-Fi?
No. Use a direct USB connection between the printer and a Windows computer.
Does the reset clean the ink absorber?
No. It resets the stored counter. Inspect, clean or replace the absorber pads when their physical condition requires maintenance.
What if my reset key was used during a failed attempt?
Correct the cause first, then use the new-key generator or contact support for assistance.
