An absorber warning on Canon GM4092 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
Understanding the Canon GM4092 ink absorber warning
An absorber message concerns both software and maintenance. The counter can be reset, while heavily saturated pads may still need cleaning or replacement.

How to enter service mode on Canon GM4092
- Turn the printer off.

Reset the counter in Canon GM4092

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon GM4092 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon GM4092 is not detected
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- Connect Canon GM4092 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
