Canon MG5420 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon MG5420 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
Before resetting Canon MG5420
Canon MG5420 uses a stored counter as a maintenance safeguard. Reaching the threshold can produce an Ink Absorber Full, Service Required or related support-code message.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MG5420. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon MG5420
- Turn the printer off.

Connect Canon MG5420 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MG5420 is not detected
- Connect Canon MG5420 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.

Does the reset clean the ink absorber?
No. It resets the stored counter. Inspect, clean or replace the absorber pads when their physical condition requires maintenance.
Can I perform the reset over Wi-Fi?
No. Use a direct USB connection between the printer and a Windows computer.
Does Canon MG5420 require service mode?
Yes. The printer must expose its maintenance interface before the counter can be reset with Wic Reset Connect.
