Canon MB2300 Reset Ink Absorber – Complete Tutorial

Canon MB2300 Ink Absorber Full Reset

If your Canon MB2300 suddenly refuses to print and shows a maintenance or service warning, the ink absorber counter may have reached its limit.

Ink absorber pads store waste ink during normal operation. Canon firmware tracks this using a software counter and may stop printing when it reaches the limit.

This page is prepared for Canon MB2300. Service mode instructions are shown only when a matching series procedure is known.

Perform the Waste Ink Counter Reset

Once the counter is cleared, Canon MB2300 should exit the locked state and printing should resume normally.

Warnings

If absorber pads are truly saturated, ignoring maintenance can lead to ink leakage inside the printer. The counter reset only removes the software lock.

Reset tools and instructions

For best results, avoid rushing button presses—consistent timing matters.

If It Doesn’t Work

  • Try a different USB cable/port if using PC software.
  • Use the correct Stop/Reset press count for your series.
  • Power-cycle the printer and try again.
  • Repeat the service mode steps carefully (timing matters).
  • Close other Canon printer utilities while resetting.

FAQ

Does reset clean the absorber pads?
No. It resets the counter (software). Pads may still require physical maintenance in high-usage cases.
Does every Canon model need service mode?
No. The generator shows service mode steps only when the series procedure is known.
How many times should I press Stop/Reset?
It depends on the series. Many use 5 presses; PRO/imagePROGRAF/MG use 6 in this generator.
How long does it take?
Usually a few minutes once the correct steps are followed.
