Canon G4000 Ink Absorber Full Reset
The “Ink Absorber Full” / service required message on Canon G4000 is common after many cleaning cycles. In most cases, a counter reset restores printing.
Ink absorber pads store waste ink during normal operation. Canon firmware tracks this using a software counter and may stop printing when it reaches the limit.
This page is prepared for Canon G4000. Service mode instructions are shown only when a matching series procedure is known.
How to Enter Service Mode on Canon G4000
If your Canon G4000 supports service mode reset, follow the steps below before performing the counter reset.
- Turn the printer OFF.
- Press and hold Stop/Reset.
- While holding Stop/Reset, press and hold Power.
- Release Stop/Reset (keep holding Power).
- Press Stop/Reset 5 times.
- Release Power — the printer should enter service mode.
If it doesn’t work, repeat the sequence carefully. The press count depends on the series.
Reset the Ink Absorber Counter
Once the counter is cleared, Canon G4000 should exit the locked state and printing should resume normally.
Before You Continue
Resetting the counter does not physically clean the absorber pads. For heavy usage, pads may eventually need cleaning or replacement.
Reset tools and instructions
If your model does not show a service mode section, it means no matching procedure was found for its series.
If It Doesn’t Work
- Close other Canon printer utilities while resetting.
- Repeat the service mode steps carefully (timing matters).
- Try a different USB cable/port if using PC software.
- Use the correct Stop/Reset press count for your series.
- Power-cycle the printer and try again.
