The waste ink system in Canon MB5120 collects ink used during cleaning cycles. Once the estimated limit is reached, service mode and a compatible counter reset may be required.

- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
