Epson EW-056A records cleaning cycles and waste ink usage in an internal counter. When that value reaches its programmed limit, printing can stop until the counter is reset.
Why the ink pad counter blocks Epson EW-056A
Waste ink produced by cleaning cycles is collected inside the printer. Epson EW-056A tracks those cycles electronically and can stop printing when the calculated limit is reached.

Reset the counter in Epson EW-056A

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for EW-056A and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson EW-056A to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson EW-056A.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson EW-056A is not detected
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Install the original Epson driver for EW-056A; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.

Does Epson EW-056A need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
What if the first reset attempt fails?
Correct the driver or USB communication problem first. If the key was consumed, use the new-key generator or contact support.
